Zheng Receives Leadership for Inclusion and Diversity Award
MIE Associate Professor Yi Zheng received the 2024 Leadership for Inclusion and Diversity Award from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Asian American Pacific Islanders Commission, which recognized him “as an exceptional leader who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to fostering inclusivity and diversity.”

Industrial Engineering Student Receives IISE UPS Scholarship for Female Students
Mia Ferrante, E’25, industrial engineering, was chosen by the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) Scholarship Trustees Committee as the winner of the UPS Scholarship for Female Students for her scholastic achievement, leadership, and dedication to the ISE profession.

MIE Capstone Group Helps Northeastern Graduates Plant Trees for Better Neighborhoods
Cathy and Tom Griffin, two Northeastern graduates, have realized the importance of trees during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, they have led the WE Tree Boston project to increase the tree population in Boston’s neighborhoods with the help of a watering system designed by a group of MIE capstone students.

Zheng Selected as 2024 NASA Glenn Faculty Fellow
MIE Associate Professor Yi Zheng was selected as a NASA Glenn Faculty Fellow. He will collaborate on a NASA project about the highly efficient Battery Thermal Management System (BTMS) during the summer of 2024.

Maheswaren and Wan Named to ASEE-NE Leadership
At the American Society for Engineering Education Northeast Section of Zone 1 Conference, Bala Maheswaran, COE Distinguished Teaching Professor, ECE and first-year engineering program, was named to the leadership of the ASEE board of directors, and Kai-tak Wan, MIE professor, was named ASEE-NE section chair for 2024-2026.
