Electric Racing at Northeastern University
Northeastern Electric Racing (NER) will enable students to acquire engineering, software development, and business skills and apply them to the planning, conception, design, fabrication, and development of an electric formula-style vehicle, competing with teams from other universities worldwide.
Through hands-on experience, NER equips members with skills in computer-aided design (CAD), electrical circuit design, machining, and software development. Beyond technical training, the team fosters growth in project management, leadership, marketing, finance, and more.
NER competes annually in two SAE Collegiate Design Series competitions: Formula Hybrid + Electric in Loudon, New Hampshire, and Formula SAE Electric in Brooklyn, Michigan. The team earned 3rd place in the Electric Vehicle class at the 2025 Formula Hybrid + Electric competition and is looking forward to continually improving at the 2026 competitions.
