MIE PhD Student Wins IMECE Best Paper Award

certificateMechanical PhD student Chang Liu was awarded first place in the ASME Noise Control and Acoustics Division student paper competition for the paper “Preliminary Results of Microwave – Induced Thermoacoustics Imaging in Geological Media” which was presented at the 2019 International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition from November 11-14, 2019 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

All the student papers submitted for the competition are reviewed by at least three professional reviewers and evaluated in the form of normalized scores. “This is amazing that Chang get the first place award merely with his ‘preliminary results’, and I am eager to see what would be the ‘final result’”, said Prof. Haijun, the chair of student paper competition program.

IMECE is ASME’s largest research and development conference focused primarily on mechanical engineering but encompasses perspectives from many engineering disciplines. The IMECE 2019 conference includes 18 Technical Tracks with over 2400 presentations and posters. Dr. Steven Chu, the Nobel Prize in Physics Co-recipient, also gave a talk in IMECE 2019 titled as ”Climate Change and Innovative Paths to a Sustainable Future”.
