Minor in Mechanical Engineering


This minor provides an opportunity for students to explore core aspects of mechanical engineering, including mechanical and thermal foundations, along with a technical focus into one of the mechanical engineering disciplines (mechanics, thermofluids, materials, and/or controls).

A minor in mechanical engineering is open to all students in the university with the prerequisite of Calculus, Differential Equations & Linear Algebra, Physics and Chemistry. The minor is particularly designed for majors in engineering (other than ME), mathematics, and science.


  1. 2.000 GPA required in the minor
  2. Students must file a petition with the MIE Academic Advisor prior to taking any coursework.
  3. Students should schedule a meeting with the MIE Academic Advisor prior to graduation, to be cleared for the minor.
  4. Minimum of three courses from the above list is required if a student has equivalent courses from another engineering department.
