SUMMARY:Lean Certified Green Belt
DESCRIPTION:The IISE Lean Green Belt Certification program is coming to Northeastern on March 24-26 2023. This is a great process improvement and optimization course which teaches about Lean 6S\, muda\, value stream mapping\, point of use\, SMED\, pull\, the eight kinds of waste\, visual workplace\, and other related topics and helps identify what adds value for customers and continuously improve processes. \nThese skills are useful in industries like healthcare\, manufacturing\, and financial services\, and are valued by companies including Raytheon\, GE\, Bose\, Walt Disney\, Amazon Robotics\, and many more. Lean Green Belt Certification will be a great opportunity for all engineering students to take advantage of\, as it provides a tremendous resume boost and increases the likelihood of getting that dream job or co-op. \nThe training will be held from March 24th to 26th\, preparing you for the included certifying exam at the end. Normally\, the Lean Green Belt certification training costs over $1\,500. He has authored numerous articles and book chapters on multiple topics related to disaster medicine and emergency medical operations and has responded to numerous prior disaster events\, including Hurricane Katrina\, Superstorm Sandy\, the Boston Marathon bombings\, the Nepal earthquakes\, and many others.

DESCRIPTION:If you are interested in learning fluid mechanics through relevant examples in an international setting in a Dialogue Of Civilization (DOC) program this summer in Panama\, please join the Zoom Info Session on Tuesday\, March 9th at 5:00 pm. By participating in this program\, you will gain an international perspective on the real-life applications of fluid mechanics technical concepts. This program will take place in Summer 1\, 2021 and will include travel to 3 relevant engineering projects (including the Panama Canal) in different locations in Panama. Two courses are offered under this program: \n\nME 3480 – International Applications of Fluid Mechanics (4SH; equivalent to ME 3475\, ME program core requirement)\nStudies fundamental principles in fluid mechanics in an international setting. Students have an opportunity to travel to a foreign locale to develop theoretical understanding while experiencing the issues that affect applications of fluids engineering in a culture and environment different from their own. DESCRIPTION:The Vinod Sahney Distinguished Lecture Series on Health Systems Innovation \n“A Health Care Experiment Called Massachusetts: Lessons for the Nation” \nAndrew Dreyfus\, President and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA) \nMassachusetts has long been at the vanguard of health care in the U.S. – from the country’s first public health department to its landmark universal health coverage law and statewide cost control framework. What can the Massachusetts experience tell us about the nature of health system change\, the potential for improvement\, the challenges that remain and what it all means in the run up to 2020? \nBio \nAndrew Dreyfus is President and Chief Executive Officer for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA)\, one of the largest independent Blue Cross Blue Shield plans in the country. During his tenure\, BCBSMA has consistently been recognized as one of the nation’s best health plans for member satisfaction and quality. Mr. Dreyfus assumed the role of CEO in September 2010. \nMr. Dreyfus joined BCBSMA in 2005 as Executive Vice President\, Health Care Services. During his tenure\, BCBSMA created the Alternative Quality Contract\, one of the largest commercial payment reform initiatives in the nation. Previously Mr. Dreyfus served as founding President of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation\, where he developed the “Roadmap to Coverage\,” a multi-year initiative which led to the passage of the state’s landmark 2006 Health Reform Law. \nPrior to his appointment at Blue Cross\, Mr. Dreyfus was Executive Vice President of the Massachusetts Hospital Association (MHA) and held a number of senior health and regulatory positions in Massachusetts state government. \n\nVinod K. Sahney PhD is a Distinguished University Professor at Northeastern University. His healthcare industry experience includes over 30 years at Henry Ford Health System\, MI and Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA as Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer. He is a founding member of the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and the Group Practice Improvement Network. He is a founding member and past President of Society for Health Systems (SHS) focused on improving Health Care Operations. Dr. Sahney’s professional recognition includes The Frank and Lillian Gilbreth Award for lifetime contributions to the field of Industrial and Systems Engineering.
