Zheng Appointed Chair of Optica Photonic Metamaterials Technical Group
MIE Associate Professor Yi Zheng has been invited to serve as the chair of the Photonic Metamaterials (PM) Technical Group for a three-year term running through December 2028.
In this leadership role, Zheng will be responsible for ensuring the technical group remains active, useful, and engaging to its community. His primary duties include appointing an executive committee of active Optica Members to help manage group operations, establishing a community engagement plan of action, and submitting annual activity reports to the Optica Board of Meetings. Under his leadership, the group will focus on maximizing information exchange and creating networking opportunities for international members within the subfield of optics and photonics through targeted webinars, social media outreach, and special panel discussions at Optica meetings.
