Capstone Students Design Robotic Boat to Combat Invasive Plant
Engineering capstone students built an autonomous robotic boat equipped with a hyperspectral camera to map the invasive hydrilla plant and help scientists control its spread in Connecticut waters. The project is a collaboration between the electrical engineering department, the mechanical engineering department, the Robotics and Intelligent Vehicles Research Lab, and the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station.

Northeastern Team Places Third at Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Industrial Engineering Case Competition
Daunte Pean, E’25, Karim Kane, E’25, and Lucas Kirma, E’25, industrial engineering, won third place at Disney’s national Industrial Engineering Case Competition. As part of the case study competition, the team took on the role as outside consultants for the city of Dallas and gave their recommendation on what form of entertainment should be built.

Networking Fair Highlights Innovative PhD Research
Northeastern University’s PhD Network recently hosted an Innovation Research Fair in which PhD candidates presented their research to 14 companies, including Takeda, Amgen, and Merck, spanning what’s now the largest biotech hub in the country—Greater Boston.

Center for Battery Sustainability and the 2nd Workshop
Faculty, researchers, students, and industry leaders gathered at the 2nd Battery Sustainability Workshop to discuss sustainability, recycling, and more. MIE Assistant Professor Juner Zhu, along with MIT professors Martin Z. Bazant and Richard D. Braatz, founded the Center for Battery Sustainability, after participating in last year’s event.
