3rd Patent in 3 Months

MIE Professor Ahmed Busnaina was awarded his third patent in three months for inventing a “Directed assembly of a conducting polymer”.  His other two patents this year were for a "Multi-biomark biosensor" and a "Method of integrating a single nanowire into a nanocircuit".

SREC Engineering Award

BSME student Robinson Greig was awarded the SREC Engineering Award at this year's RISE Expo for "Gather – Enhanced Short-Term Social Event Discovery and Planning".  The application, "Gather", is meant to provide an easy solution for users who want to plan events and activities together with existing or new friends.

Entrepreneurship Excellence

Amir Farjadian (BioE PhD), Qingchao Kong (MIE PhD), Carlo Sartori (MIE BSMS), & Constantinos Mavroidis (MIE Prof) received an Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award at this year's RISE Expo. The $5K Entrepreneurship Award is given to the presentation that earns the highest honors during the exhibition.

2nd Patent in 2 Months

MIE Professor Ahmed Busnaina & Research Associate Professor Sivasubramanian Somu were awarded a patent for their Multi-biomarker Biosensors. Professor Busnaina's previous patent was a a "Method of integrating a single nanowire into a nanocircuit".

Pursuing Vertical Flight

Congratulations to mechanical engineering student Craig Schmidt, Jr. who was awarded the 2014-15 Richard M. Carlson scholarship from the Vertical Flight Foundation.  The Vertical Flight Foundation was founded in 1967 and its scholarship program was established in 1977. Since 1980, four hundred scholarships have been awarded.

Muftu Appointed ASME Associate Editor
